Site Visits

Members of the OAFB Home Office staff visit member food banks throughout the year.

Site visits are important for OAFB home office team, the member organisation, as well as those served by food banks.  While visits are not formal "inspections" of food bank operations, OAFB staff may make recommendations for change if they notice any breaches in OAFB, Health and Safety and/or Safe Food Handling policies.

Visits are often a chance for the OAFB home office team to meet with the member food bank's directors and volunteers to answer any questions they may have, discuss benefits of OAFB membership they may not be aware of, discuss current and upcoming events and campaigns, as well as offer advice and new ideas.  By visiting members on a regular basis we build relationships with those who operate Ontario's food banks, and can share best practices that we have seen prove successful in other communities across the province.

Over the last three years members of the OAFB Home Office staff have visited 72 members across the province, gaining invaluable insight, knowledge, and experience.
