Plan Zero
Plan Zero is a partnership between StormFisher Biogas and the Ontario Association of Food Banks (OAFB). It is a powerful social enterprise business solution that provides the food industry with a single gateway for surplus food and by-products.
Millions of pounds of food surplus and by-products go to landfill every year and a great cost to industry and our environment. StormFisher Biogas accepts food by-products from growers, processors, and manufacturers, which are anaerobically digested to create methane. In turn, the methane is burned to power a grid-connected gas engine, channeling clean and green power to homes and businesses across the province.
The food surplus generated by industry is channeled into the food bank network to over 100 communities across Ontario serving 320,000 Ontarians every month. The ultimate goal: zero by-products, zero emissions, and zero hunger.
We are looking for food industry partners, including growers, processors, and manufacturers to participate in the program as a unique way to fight hunger and climate change at the same time, while having a positive impact on your bottom line.
For more information about the program, please take a look at full diagram of the process, or read our launch release. You can also watch a video about Plan Zero below. If you would like to become a partner in Plan Zero, please contact Todd Jaques at 416.656.4100.
