Distribution Network
The OAFB acts as the coordinator for Ontario's food bank network, including four Distribution Centres and over ten major hub warehouse operations. These facilities, in turn, distribute food that is acquired by the OAFB or through cooperative regional solicitation to smaller food banks in communities across the province.
The OAFB also directly acquires and distributes perishable and non-perishable food product through the home office in partnership with donated transportation carriers and corporate food donors to member food banks across the province.
The coordination activities also include the development and maintenance of distribution guidelines, the maintenance of food donor relationships, coordination of food solicitation, the provision of solicitation materials, donor recognition, inventory management controls and assistance, and logistics for major food shipments.
