More than 400,000 Ontarians are living with chronic hunger every month
The Community Harvest program was launched in order to save over 25 million pounds of fresh, edible food that is left on farmers fields every year.
These are fruits and veggies that cannot be sold in traditional markets due to cosmetic reasons (such as: shape, colour or size) but are perfectly healthy, fresh and delicious!
This program hopes to connect commercial businesses and their teams with local farms where they can volunteer to hand-pick the left-over produce directly from the fields and deliver it to the local food bank.
This is a fantastic opportunity for companies to build unity and camaraderie among their staff while contributing to hunger relief efforts around the province.
By making a donation to the OAFB, this experience will be organized by one of our amazing staff and can be suited to fit your specific needs.
If your organization, or group, is interested in finding out more about Community Harvest Ontario please contact Nicole Champagne, Development Officer (416) 656-4100 ext. 2938 or nicole@oafb.ca
Since its inception, this program has distributed 1.5 million pounds of fresh produce to Ontarians in need...and counting!
